Current status

At all three levels of government there are unresolved issues regarding this proposed development. In summary, the rezoning does not currently have the go-ahead at the State or Local Government level, nor does it have Federal government approval.

The proposal is being assessed under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC). The proponents (Strategen Environmental Consultants / Shire of Kalamunda) are in the process of preparing a response to public comments for this proposal, which will then be submitted to the Federal Department of the Environment for assessment.

Public submissions for the rezoning in the Metropolitan Regions Scheme (MRS) from Parks and Recreation to Urban closed on 5 December 2014. The Minister for Planning stated her support for rezoning, but the amendment and reports have not been presented to parliament.
