Comment on the Wilkins Rd reserve in the Local Housing Strategy by 31st Oct.

The Shire has extended the comment period for the draft local housing strategy to Thursday 31st October.

The Wilkins Road reserve features as a potential aged care site on page 40 of the strategy (advertised here, download the strategy here).

Responding to an e-mail question about the extended deadline, the Shire responded:

"The draft Strategy has not changed at all to the one advertised. The Council just resolved to extend the advertising period to allow for further submissions. Any submissions already received will be considered, so there is no need to do another if you have already provided one to the Shire."

If you haven't already sent in a submission, please do so! Example questions on the submission form are:

  • Do you support the principle of more housing being developed specifically for seniors?
  • Do you support the principle of more housing being developed specifically for the elderly?
  • The Strategy recommends that the Shire develop some of the land it owns for housing. This would take place in some areas where the land is excess to the community’s needs. Do you support this principle?
Here is an opportunity to encourage the shire to sensibly develop housing for the elderly.
