Q & A

Q: I put in a submission in December. Do I have to put in another one?

A: Yes. The December deadline was for rezoning the reserve in the Perth metropolitan planning scheme, to be considered by the WA Planning Commission. The Shire of Kalamunda won't consider those submissions, so you will need to make a new one.

More information

This rezoning is to amend the land in the Shire's Local Planning Scheme (LPS) from Regional Reserve - Parks and Recreation to Special Use (Aged Residential Care). The amendment is to align the Shire's LPS to with the proposed rezoning in the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS). Submission for that MRS rezoning closed on the 5th December (linked here).

Here is the recent letter from the Shire:

And here is the resolution. Note that the only rule is that at least one occupant over each dwelling must be over 55. There is no guarantee that aged care will be built. The developers could get away with simply building a retirement village!
